ABOUT ME

My name is Jayden Armant, a 2025 journalism graduate of Howard University. My main passion as a journalist is connecting sports to other areas such as culture, entertainment, and politics, highlighting athletes outside of just being sports figures. In this pursuit, I focused on various sports for The Hilltop newspaper, the oldest Black collegiate newspaper in the nation. I also spent years covering the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic for Sports Illustrated, where I deepened my NBA knowledge and gained professional experience in the media. I served as a video editor for Howard’s Spotlight Network and Rob Parker’s MLBBro.com.

My diverse skill set allows me to work across audio/music production, writing (politics, entertainment, television & film), and video editing. I continued my strides toward creating inclusive environments through my work as the 1st Vice President of the award-winning Howard University Association of Black Journalists and a former Men’s Ministry Leader for Reformed University Fellowship. I am also a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., Alpha Chapter, where I help build the fraternity's image through branding (social media and online promotion) and event coordination.

I strive to work at ESPN, Complex, or Andscape as a writer or social media coordinator, continuing to highlight athletes off the field/court.
